Borgo Al Pascolo is a Tuscany producer owned and run by Matteo Bernabei, who continues his family’s long tradition in wine through Riolite Vini. Its vineyards lie at around 300 metres in Panzano, Chianti, on a southwest-facing, high-elevation site with volcanic rhyolite soils. The estate produces a full-bodied Chianti from 100% Sangiovese, harvested very late with slight appassimento. The wine is matured for six months in barrels and a further six months in bottle, resulting in concentrated fruit and pronounced ripe sweetness, with a style compared to Ripasso and Amarone.
