Italy

Planeta is a family-owned Sicilian producer founded in 1995 by cousins Alessio and Santi Planeta with their uncle Diego, building on a much longer family agricultural history on the island. Working across five Sicilian territories, the estate combines a contemporary outlook with deep roots in local wine culture, from native grapes such as Nero d’Avola, Frappato, Carricante and Nerello Mascalese to carefully chosen international varieties. All cultivated land is certified organic, and Planeta is a founder and promoter of the SOStain protocol, with viticulture focused on cover crops, minimal sulfur and copper, and natural pest-control methods. The family also places strong emphasis on hospitality, culture, and social initiatives tied to the Sicilian landscape.
