Greywacke is a family-owned Marlborough winery founded in 2009 by Kevin and Kimberley Judd. Kevin, a pioneer and former founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay, emphasizes minimal intervention, site expression, and wild fermentation. The winery practices sustainable viticulture with most fruit sourced from organically farmed sites, aiming for full organic certification. Wines are crafted at Dog Point's facility in Omaka Valley using fruit from long-term partner growers in the Wairau Plains and Southern Valleys. The style focuses on complexity, texture, and aging potential across a range including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. Lead winemaker Richelle Tyney shares this low-intervention philosophy.
