Domaine des Marrans

France

Founded in 1970 in Fleurie, Beaujolais, Domaine des Marrans is a family-owned estate run by proprietor Mathieu Mélinand, who joined in 2008. Its certified-organic farming focuses on a steep granite-based vineyard planted with old vines, including parcels described as 45 to over 50 years old. Grapes are hand-harvested and traditionally Gobelet-pruned, then fermented as whole clusters with indigenous yeasts using semi-carbonic maceration. Wines are aged for 10–12 months in large older barrels or concrete, reflecting a small-scale, traditional approach to Beaujolais winemaking.
