Crotin1897

Italy

Crotin1897 is a family-run winery and agriturismo in Maretto, in the Monferrato hills of Piemonte. Founded by Daniela and her Calabrian husband, it is now managed by their sons Federico, Marcello, and Corrado Russo, who oversee the vineyards, cellar, and hospitality. The vineyards are organically certified, with no chemical herbicides or fertilizers; soil fertility is supported by green manure and sheep manure. Freisa, Barbera, Grignolino, Bonarda, Albarossa, Bussanello, and Malvasia Moscata are cultivated using Guyot training. The family produces territorial wines from single-vineyard selections, using indigenous yeasts, low sulfur, and minimal intervention to preserve each wine’s identity. Production is limited, and the estate also makes organic, garden-based farm products.
