Producer

Calmel & Joseph

France

Calmel & Joseph is a Languedoc-Roussillon producer based near Carcassonne, with its domaine at Montirat in the more continental part of Corbières. Founded in 1995, the house works across a wide mosaic of regional terroirs, from volcanic and clay-limestone soils to limestone, schist and sandstone sites, including higher-altitude vineyards around Limoux and La Livinière. Their approach emphasizes respect for terroir, gentle vinification, hand harvesting for selected parcels, and élevage aimed at preserving original balance and aromas. The estate itself is farmed organically without chemical inputs, with attention to soil life, organic matter and biodiversity. Stylistically, the wines seek harmony between fruit and freshness, spanning Mediterranean varieties as well as a modern, textural Chardonnay style exemplified by Villa Blanche.
