Adega de Favaios is a historic cooperative in Favaios, Douro, founded in 1952 by local growers and owned by around 550 member-viticulturists. It is closely associated with Moscatel de Favaios, made from Moscatel Galego Branco grown on the plateau’s cool, clay-rich soils, where fog and water-retaining ground help preserve freshness and aroma. The cooperative also produces DOC Douro white, red, rosé and sparkling wines from varieties including Viosinho, Gouveio, Arinto, Rabigato, Malvasia and Samarrinho, alongside Ports under the Monges brand. Its Moscatel heritage includes long-aged wines held in oak and historic reserves. Adega de Favaios holds organic certification and sustainability certification, reflecting its commitment to responsible winegrowing and environmental practices.
