Rook en Spieels is a boutique South African producer from the Western Cape, making a single-varietal Palomino from a tiny, isolated block of old vines planted in 1977 on the Piekenierskloof plateau near Paarl. Originally intended for brandy production, these vines yield very limited quantities. The wine is made with minimal intervention, using natural fermentation and lees aging until bottling, and is described as organic, biodynamic, natural, vegan, and low-sulphite. Its rare variety, old-vine source, and limited production give the wine a distinctly artisanal character.
