Rocca del Principe is a small family winery in Lapio, within Irpinia’s renowned Fiano di Avellino area. Founded in 2004 by Ercole Zarrella, Aurelia Fabrizio and Antonio, it grew from families with longstanding ties to the land and a desire to vinify and bottle their own grapes. The estate farms around 10 hectares, including Fiano on the Arianiello hill and Aglianico in Campore, using mechanical weed control, organic fertilization, integrated pest management and low-yield practices. Its vineyards span contrasting exposures and soils, producing wines marked by elegance, acidity and minerality. Fiano is harvested carefully to preserve freshness, then softly pressed, fermented at controlled temperature and refined in steel before bottle ageing. The wines have received repeated recognition from guides including Gambero Rosso, Slow Wine and Bibenda.
