Chartreuse de Valbonne is a distinctive Rhône Valley estate in Saint-Paulet-de-Caisson, Gard, operating as a collective, non-commercial association within a Carthusian monastery founded in 1203. Vineyards surrounding the historic monastery produce AOP Côtes du Rhône wines, including fruit from clay-limestone, southeast-facing hillside sites and Viognier parcels on the Terrasses de Montalivet. The wines are bottled at the Chartreuse and sold directly through the estate shop and online, in both bottle and bag-in-box formats. Its history extends beyond wine: acquired in 1926 by a charitable association, the site became a hospital house and later developed a range of medico-social activities. Today, wine production forms part of a broader heritage property offering visits, cultural activities and accommodation.
