Castellare di Castellina is a family-run estate in the heart of Chianti Classico, Tuscany, founded in the late 1960s-70s by Paolo Panerai through the consolidation of several farms. The 80-hectare property produces roughly 250,000–400,000 bottles annually. A pioneer in sustainable viticulture for over 40 years, it avoids synthetic chemicals, a commitment symbolized by different birds on its labels. The estate focuses on native varieties like Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera and established the region's first experimental vineyard for scientific clonal selection in collaboration with the Universities of Milan and Florence. Its winemaking has been guided by founder Panerai and legendary oenologist Émile Peynaud.
