Founded in 1808 in Almoçageme, Colares, Adega Viúva Gomes is a historic family winery owned and operated by fourth- and fifth-generation father-and-son team José Baeta and Diogo Baeta. Working with small coastal parcels on sandy soils, where vines can root deeply, the estate follows organic farming methods without formal certification. Minimal-intervention winemaking focuses on expressing the distinctive Atlantic terroir through indigenous varieties including Ramisco and Malvasia de Colares. The winery also supports tastings, courses, and events, combining traditional family continuity with a creative, sustainability-minded approach.
