Family-owned Villota is based at the historic San Rafael estate in Laserna, Laguardia, in Rioja Alavesa, where the Pérez-Villota family has cultivated vines since 1930. Carmen Pérez-Garrigues and Ricardo Pérez-Villota represent the fourth and third generations of the family. The family co-founded Viñedos del Contino, Rioja’s first single-estate winery, in 1973, and launched the Villota brand on the estate in 2013. Their wines combine Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha, with 14 months of oak ageing, seeking to express the character of the river site while balancing modern and classic styles.
