Swiftsure is a boutique collection from the makers of Man O’ War, spanning Marlborough and Bannockburn in New Zealand’s South Island. Its Marlborough vineyard lies in an elevated, cool coastal setting beneath the Kaikoura Ranges, where sea breezes and low yields encourage concentrated flavours. The 5.15-hectare Bannockburn vineyard is dedicated to Pinot Noir, planted on an elevated north-facing river terrace with schist, loess and sandy loam soils. Winemaker Duncan McTavish leads the project, drawing on more than a decade with Man O’ War and international vintage experience. Vineyard operations in Marlborough are led by Sam Taylor, who has been with the wider team since 2009. Production is deliberately limited and quality-focused; no sustainability certifications or specific ecological practices are noted.
