Founded and owned by seventh-generation Bredell family member Bernhard Bredell, Scions of Sinai was established in 2016 to safeguard his grandfather’s old vineyards in South Africa’s Western Cape. Bredell serves as chief winemaker, producing distinctive wines from five single-vineyard sites and several small plots. The contract-secured vineyards have been farmed organically for more than five years. Among them is a low-yielding 1999 bush-vine vineyard in South Stellenbosch, planted at high density on decomposed granite and koffie-stone soils and cooled by daily False Bay sea air. The wines reflect a focused, site-driven approach across a range of varietals.
