Scagliola is a fourth-generation family winery in Calosso, Asti, on the southern Piedmont hills of Monferrato bordering the Langhe. Founded by Camillo Scagliola in 1936, it remains family-run, with brothers Maggiorino and Mario and younger generations involved. The estate focuses particularly on Barbera and Moscato, alongside Dolcetto, Cortese, Chardonnay, Grignolino, Brachetto, Pinot Nero and other wines. Vineyard work emphasizes careful, clean cultivation, respect for nature and vine balance, and low yields, reflecting the family’s belief that quality is made in the vineyard. The vineyards lie on San Siro hill, where sandy, marl or tuff and limestone soils shape the site. Scagliola also participates in the Piedmont Rural Development SRG10 project; no organic certification is listed.
