Pinino is a historic Montalcino estate in Tuscany, with roots dating to 1874 and a longstanding role in Brunello’s history as one of the first officially registered producers and a founding force within the Brunello Consortium. Today it is part of the Il Borro group under the Ferruccio Ferragamo family. Working across two distinct vineyard zones near Montosoli and in Canchi, Pinino focuses on Sangiovese shaped by differing soils and southeast exposures. Sustainable farming includes cover crops, pheromone-based pest control, mechanical weed management, organic fertilization, and hand harvesting. In the cellar, the emphasis is on rigorous selection, careful maceration and aging, with production centered on excellence, terroir expression, and the possibility of not releasing Riserva every year.
