Family-owned Mamete Prevostini has roots in Valtellina dating to the mid-20th century and has been run by Mamete Prevostini since 1988. Based in Lombardy’s Alpine Valtellina, the estate cultivates Nebbiolo in the Sassella and Grumello sub-zones, on steep terraces at 350–550 metres, with hand harvesting and very low yields. Its wines reflect traditional methods, including appassimento for Sforzato, with fruit dried for extended periods before pressing and ageing. Sustainability is central to the newer CasaClima Wine-certified winery, designed for energy efficiency and gravity-fed processing, while the historic cellar includes a natural “crotto.” The estate also collaborates with local growers through the Rete dei Giardini Sospesi, supporting responsible viticulture and the preservation of the Alpine landscape.
