Weingut Velich is a family-owned estate in Apetlon, in Burgenland’s Seewinkel, with vineyards in the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park. The Velich family has farmed the site since Otto Velich planted the vineyards in 1933. Heinz Velich has led the winery since the early 1990s and took over in 2006, focusing on Chardonnay, with his son Tobi assisting in the vineyards and operations. The estate produces a small range exclusively of white wines from hand-harvested grapes. Its natural viticulture emphasizes soil health and old-vine preservation through cover crops and zero tillage. In the cellar, indigenous yeasts, extended lees aging, and the absence of chemical or mechanical must treatment shape the wines. No formal sustainability certification is reported.
