Vinification & maturation
Italy
Founded in Bologna in 1820 by Jean Buton, Distilleria Jean Buton has passed from the Sassoli de Bianchi family to Gruppo Montenegro, which has been its owner since 1999. The distillery combines traditional Charentais-type discontinuous stills with continuous column distillation. Its spirits are matured in French-oak barriques and larger Slavonian-oak barrels before blending, while its traditional Italian liqueurs remain linked to their original recipes and regional character. Today, the distillery is described as Italy’s leading brandy producer, with global reach.
