Codorníu is a historic, family-owned winery in Penedès, Spain, founded in 1551 and recognized as the oldest wine-producing family in the country. It is the second-largest producer of Cava worldwide, with approximately 3,000 hectares of vineyards, mainly in Penedès. Since 2023, the estate has been 100% organic, and the group obtained B Corp certification in 2025. The winery is celebrated for creating the first Cava in 1872 using the Traditional Method and native grapes. Its iconic modernist buildings, designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, are designated as a National Historic-Artistic Monument. While large in scale, Codorníu maintains a focus on sustainability and heritage, with a dedicated micro-winery, Celler Jaume, producing the artisanal Ars Collecta range.
