South Africa

Anthonij Rupert is a family-owned South African wine estate in the Western Cape, controlled by Johann Rupert since 2005 and part of the Rupert family wine portfolio. Winemaking is led by Dawie Botha, with wines produced from several sites, including the historic L’Ormarins estate in Franschhoek. The portfolio is notably site-focused, encompassing Cap Classique made by the traditional Méthode Champenoise, distinctive old-bush-vine Chenin, and a range of wines and spirits. The estate combines pioneering viticultural work with a strong sustainability programme: biological farming, natural pest control, recycling, WWF membership, and a transition to fully renewable hydro and solar energy. Its vineyards include virus-free vines and a substantial nature reserve.
