Weststeiermark is the heartland of vivid Schilcher rosé, with white wines adding another route.
Blauer Wildbacher.
A vivid rosé with tangy red fruit and lively acidity; colour and texture vary by site.
Weststeiermark’s best-known speciality is Schilcher, a rosé made from Blauer Wildbacher. Its fresh acidity and red-fruit character offer a distinctive alternative to the region’s white wines. The DAC also allows several white varieties. Village and vineyard names provide a closer view, while sparkling Schilcher and other bottlings should be identified by their specific wine type rather than colour alone.
