About Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda DO

Where it grows

Aged in bodegas in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, at the Guadalquivir estuary in southwestern Andalucía.

Grapes

Palomino.

Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a protected origin distinct from Jerez-Xérès-Sherry. Palomino wine ages beneath flor in Sanlúcar’s cellar environment, developing its characteristic fresh, yeasty and saline impression. Manzanilla Pasada has more extended biological ageing and a deeper character. Sanlúcar’s special role concerns where the wine ages; its grapes can come from the wider authorised production area. En rama indicates a less heavily clarified bottling, rather than a separate grape or appellation.
