Ribeira Sacra brings dramatic river-canyon vineyards to Galician wine, with Mencía reds and distinctive hillside whites.
Red berries, flowers and savoury herbs with freshness and fine tannins.
Citrus, pear and herbal notes with a fresh palate and gentle texture.
Ribeira Sacra DO is divided into five subzones, including Amandi, Chantada and Quiroga-Bibei, rather than one continuous slope with uniform soils. Mencía offers the best-known red introduction, while Godello and other local whites add another view. Many vineyards occupy steep terraces, though site conditions vary. The spectacular landscape is part of the appeal; a named vineyard, subzone and producer help explain the wine more precisely.
