Southwest France is a wine journey through local grapes and dramatically different landscapes. Follow Malbec along the Lot in Cahors, discover Négrette near Toulouse in Fronton, or meet Fer Servadou on Marcillac’s red-earth terraces. Towards the Pyrenees, Tannat gives Madiran its structured reds while Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng reveal dry and sweet white-wine traditions in Jurançon and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh. Around Bergerac, familiar Bordeaux-family grapes take on a Dordogne identity, from dry whites to Monbazillac’s rich sweet wines. Gaillac adds further discoveries, including Mauzac sparkling wine and whites from Len de l’El. The broad Sud-Ouest name brings these stories together; the appellation, colour and sweetness on an individual label explain the wine more precisely.
