Nuts, dried citrus and savoury wood-aged complexity with a dry finish.
Grillo, Catarratto, Ansonica and Damaschino.
Dried fruit, nuts and warm spice with a rounded, medium-sweet or sweet palate. The label gives the sweetness.
Nero d’Avola, Perricone and Nerello Mascalese.
Red and dried berries with warm spice in a ruby-coloured fortified wine; sweetness varies.
Marsala labels describe colour, sweetness and ageing. Oro is golden, Ambra is amber and Rubino is ruby-red; secco, semisecco and dolce indicate the sweetness. Long-aged Vergine is a rewarding route into the dry side of Marsala.
