Galicia wine country offers much more than its famous Atlantic-facing whites. Inland Ribeiro combines Treixadura with other local varieties for layered, aromatic blends, while Valdeorras brings Godello’s texture and freshness into focus along the Sil. Mencía gives many regional reds their fragrant fruit, with especially dramatic vineyard settings in Ribeira Sacra’s river canyons. Monterrei adds a warmer southeastern perspective near Portugal, where Godello, Treixadura and Mencía offer further discoveries. These four origins introduce the inland side of a wider Galician story that also includes Rías Baixas. Rainfall, elevation, river exposure and soil vary markedly between appellations. Follow the named origin and grape to explore those differences, from a fresh young white to a more structured red or a rare dried-grape wine.
