About Franciacorta DOCG

Where it grows

In Brescia province, south of Lake Iseo, among the hills and vineyard landscapes of Franciacorta.

Franciacorta DOCG is a sparkling-wine identity, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are central, with Pinot Blanc and a limited role for Erbamat permitted in appropriate categories. Satèn is a white-grape expression with gentler pressure and its own rules; rosé gives Pinot Noir a more visible role. Sweetness terms and time on the lees help distinguish individual bottles. Nearby Curtefranca identifies still wines, offering a different way into the same wider landscape.
