About San Gimignano

San Gimignano reds

Red

Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

Cherry and darker berries with a savoury, structured finish; varietal bottlings offer a more focused expression.

Rosato

Rosé

Sangiovese.

Fresh berry fruit with a dry, lively finish.

Vin Santo

White

Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia Bianca Lunga and Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

Dried fruit, nuts and a long, warm finish; the level of sweetness depends on the bottle.

Where it grows: Around San Gimignano in the hills northwest of Siena.

The town’s famous dry Vernaccia belongs to a separate DOCG. San Gimignano DOC is a route to reds and other styles from the same landscape.
