Where it grows: Between the Ottawa River valley and the St. Lawrence corridor in eastern Ontario.

Cold winters make grape choice especially important in this emerging wine area. Local vineyard evidence includes Frontenac Noir and Frontenac Gris: related varieties with different wine possibilities. These styles introduce locally grown grapes, without suggesting that every bottle qualifies for VQA certification. Other wines sold by a local winery may use fruit from outside the area.
