Blaufränkisch.
Dark cherry, blackberry and spice with fresh acidity and firm, dry tannins.
Mittelburgenland DAC centres on Blaufränkisch, giving the region its familiar Blaufränkischland identity. Warm inland growing conditions and varied vineyard soils create several expressions, from bright fruit to more structured, age-worthy reds. Other local varieties may appear under broader Burgenland labels rather than this DAC. A village and Ried name can add valuable detail, particularly when comparing how producers interpret different sites.
