Ribera del Duero is a high-plateau red-wine classic, with Tempranillo at its heart and Albillo Mayor whites to discover.
Cherry, blackberry and floral notes with fresh acidity and energetic tannins.
Tempranillo.
Dark berries, spice and toasted detail with a structured palate and a long, savoury finish.
Tempranillo.
Red berries and citrus with a lively, dry finish.
Albillo Mayor.
Apple, pear and stone fruit with texture and fresh acidity; barrel-aged examples can gain nutty depth.
Tinto Fino and Tinta del País are local names for Tempranillo, the central grape of Ribera del Duero reds. Young wines emphasise fruit; oak and bottle ageing can add spice and savoury complexity. Rosados offer a fresh contrast, while the appellation also recognises white wines led by Albillo Mayor, a different variety from Albillo Real. Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva are regulated ageing terms, not a compulsory ladder for every ambitious wine.
