Monterrei offers a warmer inland Galician perspective, with Godello, Treixadura and Mencía near the Portuguese border.
Pear, citrus and stone fruit with freshness and gentle palate breadth.
Orchard fruit, flowers and herbal notes with a fresh, textured palate.
Red cherry, berries and herbs with freshness and a dry, gently structured finish.
Monterrei DO distinguishes valley and hillside subzones, giving producers different growing settings within a compact inland origin. Godello, Treixadura and Dona Branca offer white-wine routes, while Mencía and other local red grapes provide a contrasting side. Summer warmth and cooler nights help explain the region’s position within Galicia’s diverse climate story. Read the subzone, grape and producer’s vineyard information for a more focused view than the broad regional name alone.
