Maipo is a classic home of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, with Andean terraces, historic estates and reds of depth and freshness.
Blackcurrant, cherry and herbal notes with firm tannins; oak ageing can add cedar and spice.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Merlot.

Maipo is one of the four major subregions of Chile’s Central Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon is an inviting starting point, with gravelly terraces and varied elevations giving different vineyard expressions. Pirque, Puente Alto and Buin identify more specific origins within the valley. Alto Maipo describes the Andean side of the landscape rather than one single estate. Follow those smaller place names to explore the distinction between vineyard origin and a winery’s Santiago address.
