About Minho

Minho wines lead into Portugal’s green northwest, where Vinho Verde is a protected origin rather than a description of wine colour or a promise of fizz. Discover Alvarinho in Monção e Melgaço, fragrant Loureiro along the Lima valley and fuller Avesso whites around Baião. Inland Amarante and Basto offer different conditions from the valleys more open to the Atlantic. Vinhão reds, lively rosés and sparkling wines add further choices. Vinho Verde PDO and the broader Minho PGI follow different rules. Compare grape, subregion and sweetness to explore a wine landscape that reaches well beyond the familiar light white blend.
