Velletri pairs white blends and reds in the southeastern reaches of the Alban Hills.
Malvasia Bianca di Candia, Malvasia del Lazio, Trebbiano Toscano.
White fruit and flowers with a fresh, gently rounded texture.
Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Cesanese Comune.
Cherry and berry fruit with dry, savoury tannins.
Velletri DOC offers both colours rather than the mainly white identity of some neighbouring hill origins. Malvasia and Trebbiano shape the bianco, while Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Cesanese contribute to the rosso. The designation follows its own production area and rules. Compare colour and wine type alongside the producer when exploring this part of Lazio.
