Mondeuse
Savoie offers a varied Alpine foothill wine journey, from fresh Jacquère whites to Mondeuse reds and sparkling wines.
Jacquère.
Citrus, apple and light floral notes with a dry, fresh palate.
Mondeuse.
Dark berries, violet and peppery spice with fresh acidity and firm tannins.
Jacquère and Altesse are local partners, with Chardonnay among the permitted supporting grapes; blends vary.
Citrus, apple and bread-like detail with fresh acidity and fine bubbles; sweetness varies.
Savoie, also called Vin de Savoie, is broader than any one cru and differs from the modern administrative department boundaries. Named geographical denominations help identify smaller local traditions, including Crépy, Apremont, Chignin and Arbin. Jacquère is a useful white introduction, with Mondeuse giving a distinctive red route. Roussette de Savoie and Seyssel have separate appellation identities. Sparkling categories, including Crémant de Savoie, add further variety. Read origin, named cru and wine type together.
