Catalanesca del Monte Somma brings a distinctive local white grape to the vineyard slopes beside Vesuvius.
Citrus, orchard fruit and floral notes with freshness and gentle texture.
Dried orchard fruit, citrus peel and honeyed notes with concentrated flavour; sweetness should be checked on the bottle.
Catalanesca is the principal grape of this IGT, with both white and passito expressions under the specification. The growing area provides a more focused identity than a broad Campania label. A fresh white and a dried-grape passito can have very different sweetness and texture, so the named wine type matters. Monte Somma’s vineyard setting adds the geographical thread to a grape that is still a rewarding discovery beyond its home region.
