About Catalanesca del Monte Somma IGT

Where it grows: Across defined municipalities on and around Monte Somma in Naples province.
Grapes: Catalanesca.

Catalanesca still white

Citrus, orchard fruit and floral notes with freshness and gentle texture.

Catalanesca passito

Dried orchard fruit, citrus peel and honeyed notes with concentrated flavour; sweetness should be checked on the bottle.

Catalanesca is the principal grape of this IGT, with both white and passito expressions under the specification. The growing area provides a more focused identity than a broad Campania label. A fresh white and a dried-grape passito can have very different sweetness and texture, so the named wine type matters. Monte Somma’s vineyard setting adds the geographical thread to a grape that is still a rewarding discovery beyond its home region.
