About Donauland (historical name)

Grüner Veltliner on older labels

White

Grüner Veltliner.

Orchard fruit and spice, with more nutty or honeyed detail possible in mature bottles.

Roter Veltliner on older labels

White

Roter Veltliner.

Pear, ripe fruit and savoury texture, with bottle age and storage shaping mature examples.

Where it grows: In the historic Donauland wine area along the Danube, including today’s Wagram landscape.

Donauland became Wagram in 2007. Older labels may still carry this name; today’s Wagram wines have their own DAC origin system. Grüner Veltliner and Roter Veltliner provide useful links between the region’s earlier and current wine story.
