Vineyards extend from coastal plains into the hinterland. Pacific influence moderates extreme heat, but humidity and summer rainfall mean drainage, ventilation and aspect matter. Chardonnay offers a gentle white-wine entry, while Chambourcin brings vivid colour and plum fruit and is valued for mildew resistance. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon also feature. This is a coastal GI rather than a guarantee that every vineyard shares the same exposure.
