Since the 2014 harvest specification, Zemplén is limited to class I and II vineyard-cadastre land in the 27 named municipalities. The older county-wide definition and 85% grape-origin rule are superseded. It is a distinct designation from Tokaj PDO and is not a village or a subzone of it.
