About Kakheti

Kakheti wines invite you into Georgia’s eastern vineyard heartland, from the Alazani Valley beneath the Greater Caucasus to the hills and open country around the Iori. Saperavi produces deeply coloured reds, including dry Mukuzani and naturally semi-sweet Kindzmarauli. Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane Kakhuri lead many whites, while Kisi and Khikhvi offer rewarding discoveries. Amber wines gain colour and texture through contact with grape skins, often in buried clay qvevri; the vessel also serves other wine styles. Follow protected origins such as Tsinandali, Manavi and Tibaani, then explore cellar towns and villages including Telavi, Sighnaghi and Kondoli. A village address, grape name and protected appellation tell different parts of a wine’s story. The guides help connect those names to the landscapes, grapes and traditions behind the bottle.
