Château Pierre-Bise

France

Château Pierre-Bise is a family-owned Loire Valley estate in Anjou, held by the Papin family since 1959 and now led by René Papin. The domaine also works with grapes from three local growers—Vincent Ogereau, Yves Guégniard and Claude Papin—linked to the walled vineyard of Savennières. Farming is organic and conservation-minded, with no-plow or minimal-tillage methods, biodiversity, natural pest control, and the use of animals in the vineyards. In the cellar, the focus is on hand-harvested fruit, ambient yeast fermentations, gentle extraction, minimal filtration, and no additives. The wines are guided by terroir expression, especially through Chenin Blanc, alongside Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Gamay.
