Producer

Aterra

Italy

Aterra is a boutique Puglian producer founded and owned by Andrea, a London-based lawyer from Bari, and Marta, an oenologist from Margherita di Savoia who leads the winemaking. Since its first commercial release in 2022, the estate has worked three small vineyard sites planted with old bush vines in diverse soils, producing limited quantities through a hands-on approach. Viticulture uses organic-style practices, with no synthetic chemicals, alongside cover crops and composted vine stems. Aterra also pursues a carbon-neutral footprint, lighter bottles and natural corks from certified forests. Marta’s cellar work includes controlled-temperature fermentation, gentle pre-maceration, full malolactic fermentation and five to six months of stainless-steel aging before bottling.
