Villa Poggio Salvi

Italy

Villa Poggio Salvi is a family-owned estate in Montalcino, purchased by Pierluigi Tagliabue in 1979 and now run with his grandson, oenologist Luca Belingardi. Its vineyards are planted with Sangiovese Grosso clones on the southern slopes of Montalcino, at 300–500 metres, with galestro-rich soils and Tyrrhenian breezes. Hand-picked grapes, low yields and careful vineyard management support a quality-focused approach; the estate has followed SQNPI integrated-production guidelines since the 2022 vintage. Winemaking combines modern facilities with traditional methods, notably refining Sangiovese Grosso in large oak casks. The Pomona label, used since 1979, reflects the estate’s enduring identity and connection to the fruitfulness of the land.
