Domaine Clusel-Roch

France

Clusel-Roch is a family-owned estate in Ampuis in the Rhône Valley, rooted in Côte-Rôtie and now led by Guillaume Clusel following the work of Gilbert Clusel and Brigitte Roch, with earlier family ties to René and Joséphine Clusel. The domaine farms vineyards in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Côtes-du-Rhône, and Coteaux du Lyonnais, including steep hillside sites that require manual work. It is certified organic, with soils worked mechanically, compost used instead of chemical fertilizers, and minimal treatments. The estate emphasizes preserving old Syrah material through massal selection. In the cellar, the approach is natural and traditional, including gravity-fed handling, native-yeast fermentations, basket pressing, and barrel aging.
