Producer

Las Lilas

Portugal

Las Lilas is an independent, small-scale estate producer in the mountainous Vinho Verde area near Ponte da Barca, Minho. Its wines come entirely from its own vineyards, including old vines, on granitic and sandy loam soils, with grapes harvested by hand. Farming is described as sustainable, with continuous soil cover and no ploughing. Winemaker José Oliveira follows a natural approach, avoiding chaptalisation and acidification while using minimal fining and filtration; malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously when it does. The estate’s focus on mountain-grown fruit, careful farming, and low-intervention cellar work gives Las Lilas a distinctly artisanal character.
