Historic Barsac estate Château Coutet has been owned by the Baly family since 1977, with several generations involved in its direction, including Aline Baly in a leading winemaking role. Classified Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it is rooted in Barsac’s clay-limestone terroir and a microclimate shaped by the Ciron, favoring noble rot. The vineyards are planted to Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle. Harvest is carried out by hand in successive passes from September to November, followed by slow pressing, lot-by-lot barrel fermentation, and extended ageing in barrel before blending. The wines are consistently noted for richness, precision, freshness, and long ageing potential.
